Remembered Today:

German Naval Gun in Upstate NY

This is one of those "I read one time but can't remember where..." posts. What I do remember is reading about a surviving German naval deck gun which is currently being used as a war memorial, on a village green somewhere in upstate New York, close to the tri-state border of NY/MA/VT. It came from a German armed merchant ship which - if I remember rightly - was interned in 1916-17 on the West Coast, and subsequently brought to NYC. I read about it either on Wikipedia, or (more likely) on a wonderful site put together by somebody who's apparently devoted their life to cataloging German WWI naval guns. Which of course now I can't find either.

I went looking for it last week, thinking it might be in Hoosick Falls, but all I found was a WWII-vintage US 37mm towed field piece...  does this Mystery Gun sound at all familiar to anyone?

Thanks,

Dave
