Dragoon Posted 4 August , 2019 Posted 4 August , 2019 Hello again, I thought I'd start a new thread to hopefully get a POW record expert on board, this is the previous thread with regard to Frederick in which Chris and George kindly contributed... https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/274162-frederick-smith-cyclist-corps-66th-east-lancashire-regiment/ Frederick was in the Army Cyclist Corps, #19552 DOB.1882 Captured, 9th April 1918 Repatriated , 2nd Dec 1918 I've searched the red cross records but to no avail, hopefully someone with a bit more expertise can help. Thank you again all for your time. Chris
Dragoon Posted 4 August , 2019 Author Posted 4 August , 2019 May I ask, if people have kindly looked also and not found anything like myself? Also, are there any other sites out there with POW records? Cheers Chris
MaxD Posted 4 August , 2019 Posted 4 August , 2019 I looked this afternoon. Found no Smiths of the Army Cyclists, or Smiths Frederick with the right number. There are a number, at the beginning, of Smiths with no other detail. Significant that Findmypast, who now reproduce the ICRC POW records, haven't got him, but perhaps they had a similar problem. Don't know of other sources I'm afraid. Max
Dragoon Posted 4 August , 2019 Author Posted 4 August , 2019 Cheers Max for your reply, it is frustrating. The surname Smith doesn't help ha ha. Oh well, I'll keep hunting. Thanks again Max Chris

Thank you! I'll get onto the BNA when I get onto a library computer, it's free there. Still looking through ICRC records, nothing! Cheers for the link, may get some more information. Cheers Chris
