Steve1871 Posted 1 August , 2019 Share Posted 1 August , 2019 Am curious about this bayonet. Look's like spine erased , fuller goes too far out toward tip. Do not think 84/98, original or new made. Believe the 84' series all had rounded spine. Thinking 98/05 converted to WW2 98k? at under $300 usd. What is it and is it worth it? What do you guy's think? Good or bad, would like any thought's out there
trajan Posted 2 August , 2019 Share Posted 2 August , 2019 (edited) Certainly a bit odd - needs some thought. Too judge from the price, the seller also knows that he has an odd one... The unit looks to me to be a Reichswehr one, 1921 and up to 1935, '1/K.6.1.' = 1 Kavellerie Brigade, 6 Regiment/Squadron, waffe 1. BUT I am not too hot on the post 1918 markings. I have though those serial marked ricassoes were Bavarian, but honestly don't know. Edited 2 August , 2019 by trajan
AndyBsk Posted 7 October , 2019 Share Posted 7 October , 2019 Hard to say, the blade looks like shortened from other bayonet? possible S14 or S98/05, with new pommel of S84/98nA, as mentioend by Trajan is Reichwehr unit marked for 6.Cavalry. reworked with 3r era parts, screws possible flashguard,b.r.Andy
trajan Posted 4 November , 2019 Share Posted 4 November , 2019 As I said earlier, but misspelt it(!), I have been thinking that these bayonets with serial-marked ricassoes and scabbards are Bavarian. I cannot prove it, just a gut feeling based on how pre-WW1 Bavaria often did mark their bayonets with a serial number on the quillon, etc.
AndyBsk Posted 4 November , 2019 Share Posted 4 November , 2019 When possible to remove grips, there could be rework stamps?, anyway no visible stamps of 3R rework, which i would expect.
