pudsey63 Posted 1 August , 2019 Posted 1 August , 2019 I have found two entries for Private Bernard Arnold 35966, died 11th June 1918. Two numbers but only one digit different so presumably a typo. One says he died in Germany (officially accepted) so maybe as a POW. CWG entry has him initially buried at Charleville, then at Terlincthun British Cemetery. i am puzzled as to how he could have died in Germany but been buried in France. Any thoughts?
RaySearching Posted 1 August , 2019 Posted 1 August , 2019 The effects record reads officially accepted Germany Notification of his death would have been on a list provided by the Germans Charlesville Communal cemetery was in German hands in June 1918 He was buried and his grave marked by the German occupiers in Charleville Communal cemetery then exhumed during the grave concentrations and reburied in Terlincthun British cemetery Ray
