Afraid not hahahaha, pure Frenchman only. I appreciate the sentiment though Peter!

 

No worries about my own ancestors, I may try my hand at a separate thread for that soon. I had found using numerous sources prison records and regimental records to locate an ancestor who was captured at Maubeuge in September of 1914. I was very proud of that!

 

If you do find anything more about Victor, that would be lovely, but you've all done more than enough.

I've never read any of her books cover to cover, just dipped into the two I own when they might have something relevant to the man I'm researching.

 

From the comments I've seen on the forum over the years she seems to split members into the like it or loathe it camps.
