Blackblue Posted 21 July , 2019 Share Posted 21 July , 2019 Hello All, Wondered if anyone has come across the Trench Map Reference for Advanced Dressing/Clearing Station Menin Road between 1 and 8 Aug 17. I believe it was managed by the 113 Field Ambulance, 16th Div. Nothing specific that I can see in the War Diaries. Rgds Tim D
EDWARD1 Posted 21 July , 2019 Share Posted 21 July , 2019 The War Diary ADMS HQ 16th Div 3rd Aug 1917 has an ADS at Menin Road at I9d 3.
mebu Posted 21 July , 2019 Share Posted 21 July , 2019 If it's I 9 d 3.4 it is still there, in private grounds adjacent to Menin Road South cemetery. Apparent from concrete and old brickwork, now used as a garden store. Can be seen from within the cemetery. If I 9 d 3.6, must have been on the other side of the road. Blackblue Posted 24 July , 2019 Author Share Posted 24 July , 2019 (edited) Brilliant. Cheers guys. Don't suppose you can steer me to the reference Edward? Are any 16 Div Burial Returns etc. available? I interested in burials in Menin Road South Military Cemetery between 1 Aug and 12 Aug 17. TEW Posted 27 July , 2019 Share Posted 27 July , 2019 The school shown on this map; known as L'Ecole Bienfaisance was used as various types of dressing station, collecting post, rest station for much of the war, the grounds occupied a lot of square I.9.C.
