davidbohl Posted 17 July , 2019 Share Posted 17 July , 2019 We had Arthur Roberts playing for us from 1912-1914. Trying to find a military career for Liverpool schoolteacher Arthur Roberts b.1886 Toxteth living at 102 Granby St in 1911. The NUT records are for A.Roberts, Liverpool. There are quite a few KLR soldiers but as an off chance his parents Robert born Gwytherin, Denbigh and Catherine, Holyhead might put him in perhaps RWF. Many Thanks Dave
Mark1959 Posted 17 July , 2019 Share Posted 17 July , 2019 (edited) His marriage entry on ancestry has him as marrying Ellen Marjorie Cross on 13/2/1919 at St Cyprians, Edge Hill. Profession schoolmaster. Father Robert, a butcher, deceased The address given is 113 Kingsley Road. There is a WFA Pension Ledger card for an Arthur Roberts living at that address. KLR 5254. Discharged 21/4/17 for VDH - a heart conndition. 30% disability due to service. In 1920 put up to 40%. Looks as if he lived until 1980 - about 94!! So looks like it is him if marriage is correct edit SWB awarded. Shows re-numbered as 202331. Discharged from 5th KLR. Service 21/11/15 to 21/4/17. Shows did not serve abroad. Private. Mark1959 Posted 17 July , 2019 Share Posted 17 July , 2019 (edited) Yes Robert Roberts of 102 Granby St was a butcher - several sources. All fits. Rugby left me with a bad neck, dodgy knees etc - ex utility player - played every position apart from prop and second row. Hope it gets me to 94!
