mebu Posted 14 July , 2019 Share Posted 14 July , 2019 Holiday advert in Radio Times today says that Jersey is famous for "picturesque castles, beaches and WW1 memorials". Anyone know of any? Methinks they may be confused with later conflict. Peter
Sepoy Posted 14 July , 2019 Share Posted 14 July , 2019 (edited) No there are one or two interesting village WW1 war memorials and an interesting war cemetery including WW1 casualties (Or was that on Guernsey). Regretfully, life is a little stressful at the present and I am unable to go through my photographs to post examples. I am certain others will provide. L/Dfdr NB Jersey is a great place to visit, as is Guernsey. Edited 14 July , 2019 by Sepoy

mebu Posted 15 July , 2019 Author Share Posted 15 July , 2019 Thanks for the replies. Looks like there are no special monuments, just the same memorials as any British village. I have contacted the tour company, who said they will look into it. Then sent me a link to some "famous" WW1 monuments. In New Jersey, USA. No further reply yet to my answer, will post when more info. Why the interest? Just feel that advertising trips to WW1 memorials which aren't there is a con, or a very misleading mistake. Bearing in mind this is a Radio Times Travel Offer there may be many people who take up the offer. Peter
seaJane Posted 15 July , 2019 Share Posted 15 July , 2019 Could be a typo - incompetence more likely than deliberate misleading any day.
