Is it possible to find which R.E. Companies were in Roorkee in December, 1917?

There was only one RE Company in India: H Company, which was a holding unit for all RE personnel in India. All other engineer personnel in India belonged to one of the three corps (Bengal, Madras and Bombay) of Sappers and Miners, of the Indian Army.

I don't know where H Company RE was based: it may well have been at Roorkee.

Thankyou. Yes, I thought it might be a Centre for arrivals and departures.

Is it possible to find which RE companies were at Bangalore 1918/19.

The best place to look is the Montlhy Army Lists for the relevant years. I don't know whether they are available online: you might try the National Library of Scotland website. Printed copies are also available in the National Archives at Kew, and in some other big libraries.

Heres the link to the National Library of Scotland webpage - but I don't think I've ever seen that level of detail in the Monthly Army list.

Might be worth trying the Fibis site  - https://www.fibis.org/

Cheers,

Peter
