What did a bushman do in British Columbia in 1915?

Can any colleagues in Canada (or indeed anywhere else)please tell me what a bushman did in British Columbia in 1915/1916?

One of the men I am researching enlisted in the CEF in January 1916 in BC giving his occupation as "bushman".

(His occupation appears once in his record as "logger".)
