Margosh Posted 5 July , 2019 Share Posted 5 July , 2019 Remembering my Grandad's Cousin, KIA 5th July 1917, buried at La Clytte Military Cemetery, Belgium. William (108905, 517 London Field Company, RE) embarked for France on 14th May. At this time the Company were involved in 'deepening, improving and digging Blue Line' around Spoli Bank. The War Diary records his death on 5th July as KIA. The register of personal effects shows place of death as 4th London Field Ambulance (they were based at La Clytte Dressing Station). My son and I visited in 2017 to pay respects, unfortunately a few weeks after the centenary as I hadn't 'discovered' this family history connection until late July but I was already planning a visit to the Ypres area in August. RIP William.
