Divisionally Marked - Entrenching tools RND

It's very uncommon to find them regimentally or unit marked. I did at one time own an entrenching tool handle marked with OX and a number on the metal collar, the only one I've seen. I've never seen a marked head. Pictures would help.

You are unlucky and I am sorry for that.

I have 2 and I know at least 7 more.

If you want I can send you details to get in touch with owners, via P. M.

I’m equally unlucky, I’ve been collecting Great War British Infantry Equipment for about forty years and I’ve handled or owned dozens of entrenching tools but have yet to see a single regimentally marked head, or helve for that matter. I’m amazed that you’ve tracked down at least nine of them !

Please do post photos of yours, I’d be really interested to see them.

Cheers

Remarkable, even miraculous, luck.

I've had loads of helves over the years: a very, very few with either a WD or maker's mark or service number; yet none with unit markings.

Of the tool heads: lots - most? all? - with maker's marks, and no other markings whatsoever (unit, WD or otherwise).

That said, if these nine items derive from your regular source of quality, genuine items; then such good fortune comes as no surprise.

Cheers!

GT.
