Colin W Taylor Posted 29 June , 2019 Share Posted 29 June , 2019 RGLI, I can't help with the match but I can provide a small amount of background. 20th Bn RF was disbanded in Feb 1918. During their disbandment members of 2nd Bn RF apparently arrived and were able to pick and choose the best 300 men they were to get in their draft. They chose the 20RF band, concert party and football team; presumably some of the better members of the latter were incorporated into the 2RF team. According to sources within 33 Division the 20RF team was successful but the battalion allegedly kept them out the trenches to allow them to rest and train; I'm not sure of the truth of the matter.
