He is listed amongst men from Retford, killed in the Great war but,however, does not appear on the Retford Memorial. he does appaer on St Stpehens Roll of honour a church in Bournemouth. Hambo Posted 31 January , 2005 Share Posted 31 January , 2005 Hi Dorrie His name actually appears as Denman-Jubb in the following From "The Bond of Sacrifice" Vol 1 Born 9th August 1876 son of Rev Henry and Mrs Denman-Jubb Educated at Uppingham and Oriel College Oxford to a B.A. degree. Commisioned Jan 1900 made Lieutenant in Feb 1901 In South African war as Railway Staff Officer 1902. Present at operations in the Transvaal, east of Pretoria saw action at Rhenoster Kop Received the Queens Medal with three clasps and the Kings Medal with two clasps Promoted Captain in Sept 1906 and from March 1908 to September 1911 was an adjutant of the Volunteers in the Territorial force. Member of the Army and Navy Club and was fond of hunting. In the 1881 census, the family are living at Mill Hill Cottages, Dunham. The family comprises Henry (54, a vicar), wife Catherine (33), Cyril, aged 4 and daughter Winifred aged 2.
