Looking at Liverpool schoolteacher Pte Henry Alexander Cooke, his MIC is #1644 RAMC

He was gazetted 3rd June 1915 as No. 1644 Private A.Cook (no "e")

If there is no citation for his DCM can we find out what he did ?

Many thanks

Dave

Edinburgh Gazette - 'A Cooke' RAMC (TF): https://www.thegazette.co.uk/Edinburgh/issue/12815/page/792.

London Gazette - as above: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/29180/supplement/5332

MIC says Egypt, as I'm sure you spotted.

archangel19,

For my education, how did you get that? It wouldn't obey my search.

Searched for "1644 cook", then ignored any date before 3rd June 1915. It was the second result on page 2.

Well done chaps, I wonder what happened to his "Henry" bit ?

As a post script, after the war the papers report him in a strange story about Japanese spies in 1926.
