Acknown Posted 9 June , 2019 Share Posted 9 June , 2019 I'm not sure what research you have done. His CWGC details are here: James Greenfield CWGC. There are some medal details on Ancestry which state he was in the 10th Battalion and did not earn a 14/15 Star: James Greenfield MIC, James Greenfield Medal Roll. If you don't have Ancestry, you might be able to access it for free at your local public library. Acknown
Don Regiano Posted 9 June , 2019 Share Posted 9 June , 2019 (edited) Well, the CWGC states that he "died" on 3 July, as distinct from stating he was KiA that day. He is commemorated at Thiepval so has no known grave. It is possible he could have been wounded in action a day or two earlier or, perhaps, could have been one of those who were buried alive, according to the war diary: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interactive/60779/43112_2085_3-00244?pid=373368&backurl=https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?_phsrc%3Dfhb457%26_phstart%3DsuccessSource%26usePUBJs%3Dtrue%26indiv%3D1%26dbid%3D60779%26cp%3D0%26gskw%3D2085/3%26_F0007CF4%3Dwarwickshire%26new%3D1%26rank%3D1%26uidh%3Duc3%26redir%3Dfalse%26gss%3Dangs-d%26pcat%3D39%26fh%3D6%26h%3D373368%26recoff%3D%26ml_rpos%3D7&treeid=&personid=&hintid=&usePUB=true&_phsrc=fhb457&_phstart=successSource&usePUBJs=true&_ga=2.181537511.1187727704.1560091268-1447631904.1548673821#?imageId=43112_2085_3-00143 They were in the area of La Boisselle.
