I picked this helmet up recently and they threw in a couple of buttons. I’m sure the helmet is younger than WW1 but does anyone know if the buttons are of the period?

The buttons look either French (Artillery) or Italian (Carabinieri), and as you say the helmet is post WW1.

Hi

the helmet is most likely the French version of the US helmet which was used into the 70s

Buttons are most definitely French
