Remembered Today:

Crashed aircraft on what is now Newfoundland Park?

Hello. I was told (can't remember where) that for a long time after the end of WW1, there was an aircraft wreckage on what is now the Newfoundland Memorial Park near Beaumont-Hamel.

I have tried researching this but have found nothing.

Does anybody know if this story is true and if so, what aircraft was it?

Thanks!

It is mentioned in Mr and Mrs Holts Battlefield Guide to the Somme, but no further details are given.

Perhaps you could contact the visitors centre at Newfoundland Park or Newfoundland archives in St John's https://www.therooms.ca/contact-us who apparently have an extensive WW1 collection
