WW1 medals-Leonard Henson

Greetings from Perth, Western Australia

It was suggested by the Western Front Association that someone maybe able to assist me on this Forum.

My Great Grandfather served in WW1 in British Army and WW2 in the Australian Army. I know he would have been eligible for medals for his service in WW1 but no one in the family have ever seen then and I would like to obtain a copy but don't know what he was eligible for and hence what I need to order. I would like to be able to wear the copies.

I found his Medal Index Card.

Leonard Henson Notts Derby R-Pte-3349

                            22 Lond R-69352

   Victory             TP22/101 B/4

British                  do    do

I assume this tells me what he would have received but doesn't help me.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

Please remember time difference for responses.

Hi Shellie

Welcome to the Forum.

Your Great Grandfathers MIC indicates that he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal for service with the Notts & Derbyshire Regiment and later served with the 22nd London Regiment.

There are several dealers who would be able to supply you replicas of these medals including this one who I have used myself.

https://www.worcmedals.com

They will mount replicas ready for wear but it is best to get a firm quotation for this and postage/carriage first before ordering.

Many thanks for the information and advice. I appreciate the assistance. I will follow up with British medal forum  and if no joy will arrange to purchase copies.

Thank you

Hi Shellie,

There's a '2' missing off the end of the number. It should be '693522'

Those are the medal roll references, which in your case show that Leonard served overseas with the 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (aka Notts. & Derby.), before moving to the 22nd Battalion London Regiment.
