Dannemois Posted 28 May , 2019 Share Posted 28 May , 2019 Hello; Can someone please help; the snippet above is from the Monmouthshire Guardian 16 Mar 1917. I would like to learn more about Pte James's time on the front and the details of the deed for which he was awarded the MM. Kind Regards, Roy

clk Posted 28 May , 2019 Share Posted 28 May , 2019 (edited) Hi Roy, No problem. The one thing that is niggling me a bit though is why if the announcement of the award was published in the LG in December 1916, the local newspaper dates from 3 months later. Usually local papers seem to have picked up published awards within a couple of days based on the LG announcement. True though that the LG wouldn't have contained any details such as the date of the action and 'Regina Trench'. Perhaps it was based on subsequent info provided by his wife/family???
