clive_hughes Posted 18 May , 2019 Share Posted 18 May , 2019 Thanks again for the nice clear pictures, mb. A higher proportion of officers and non-Welsh names than usual on this one, probably reflecting Rhosneigr's growth later in the 19th century as a second-home/ holiday venue for more affluent families based on Merseyside and elsewhere. mbriscoe Posted 18 May , 2019 Author Share Posted 18 May , 2019 Some could have "emigrated" from the area and lived in England though you can never be sure as people could be put any regiment. Would need to look into their background to get a better idea.
clive_hughes Posted 18 May , 2019 Share Posted 18 May , 2019 Agreed, that's always a possibility - but with others there's no obvious clue as to why they're listed. Gate had emigrated to Natal and was a motor mechanic, but wasn't born or census-listed locally and at present has no clear link to Rhosneigr. Maybe someone's chauffeur here for a while??
