PhilB Posted 22 May , 2019 Share Posted 22 May , 2019 Quite right, Daggers! "The title 'Merchant Navy' was granted by King George V after the First World War to recognise the contribution made by merchant sailors."
Keith Brannen Posted 22 May , 2019 Share Posted 22 May , 2019 (edited) Looking at the second example posted, it looks to me that the information is the whole line: W.3083 (form listed on this site as: "Army Form W 3083 Hospital Identity Tag) MN.O.L.H.A.622 Wonder if it is Monthly Operations/Orders List Hospital Admissions 622 or something like that. EDIT: Example of W.3083: http://pictureoxon.com/frontend.php?action=printdetails&keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;POX0160533&prevUrl= Edited 22 May , 2019 by Keith Brannen
TEW Posted 23 May , 2019 Author Share Posted 23 May , 2019 Keith Yes, I happened to check up on W.3083 as well. Wasn't aware that the W.3083 tags were used to update the B.103 record sheet. The two examples I've used so far are Manchester Regiment wounded 1/7/1916 (Mametz) who also have an entry in the MH106 series for admission to 34CCS 1/7/1916. Apart from both B.103 forms being written by the same clerk both have pretty much the same codes in the remarks column and followed the same route up to a point. I'm pursuing more 7th Division entries in the MH106 book so may get more examples. Thanks TEW
