Andre Chissel Posted 15 May , 2019 Share Posted 15 May , 2019 Dear all, I am researching Pte Sydney Smith 2nd Battalion Buffs East Kent Regiment. He was interned in Switzerland in 1915. I have located a few so called 'British Interned in Switzerland - History Sheet's belonging to those who were interned (see example attached) and was wondering whether there is a complete set of these 'History Sheets' stored somewhere as they provide a great deal of information about each person that was interned. Any idea how I can see if one exists for my man please ? Andre
charlie2 Posted 15 May , 2019 Share Posted 15 May , 2019 (edited) I can‘t help with the history sheets but there is nothing contained on your example that cannot normally be found in the the main and servicemen interned in Switzerland ICRC files. In Sydney Smith‘s case the NoK details and profession are missing - just the luck of the draw https://grandeguerre.icrc.org/en/File/Details/2524125/3/2/ https://grandeguerre.icrc.org/en/File/Details/1784289/3/2/ Charlie He was interned in Switzerland as he was suffering from TB Edited 15 May , 2019 by charlie2
Andre Chissel Posted 15 May , 2019 Author Share Posted 15 May , 2019 (edited) Wow that is magnificent thank you Charlie ! (so quick too !) One question - how do you know he was suffering from TB I cannot see it on the card unless I am reading it incorrectly ? He was a postman in Switzerland and I have details of his NoK - Some of his service records are to all intents and purposes intact ! charlie2 Posted 15 May , 2019 Share Posted 15 May , 2019 Andre, its not on the card but on the attached documents, in this case PA5992 ( enter the numbers in the box on the right). It records that he was transferred from Göttingen via Konstanz to internment in Switzerland. The abbreviation Tbc = TB https://grandeguerre.icrc.org/en/List/2524125/698/5992/ Charlie
