davidbohl Posted 14 May , 2019 Share Posted 14 May , 2019 Schoolteacher L/Cpl John Bamforth Jones #18117 R.Warwickshire Regt was yet another casualty CWGC There is a record of him being a POW as well, supplied by an Aunt:- L/Cpl John Bamforth 18117 16th Royal Warwickshire by Clara Bamforth (aunt) There is an informative webpage on the Upholland memorial Is the POW entry valid or was it inspired by him being listed as 'missing' ? Many thanks Dave

charlie962 Posted 14 May , 2019 Share Posted 14 May , 2019 (edited) John Bamforth Jones was reported missing in the Casualty list 13/11/1916. Given that he has no known grave but is commemorated on Thiepval memorial and that SDGW says he died of wounds, the suggestion he was PoW briefly and died soon after capture would seem possible. Charlie Effects says he died 'on or since 26/9/16' Edited 14 May , 2019 by charlie962
