laughton Posted 13 May , 2019 Posted 13 May , 2019 The Royal Welsh Fusiliers should ask for the old headstone for their museum, if they have one. That is what Greg Young has been doing for the CEF 15th Bn men found.
clive_hughes Posted 15 May , 2019 Posted 15 May , 2019 Well done indeed. He was killed at Ypres in October 1914.
Hyacinth1326 Posted 17 May , 2019 Posted 17 May , 2019 we all owe Captain Miles Kington and yourself a great debt of gratitude
thetrenchrat22 Posted 18 May , 2019 Author Posted 18 May , 2019 (edited) But it is only a small thing, I can do for them. to give the Unknowns, their names back once more The timing of the ceremony was 15.30 hrs as given on the CWGC website at the time of my post on Monday The website is now showing 14.00 hrs, this is inline with the timing as stated by the JCCC in their letter to me of the 7th May Edited 19 May , 2019 by thetrenchrat22
Guest Posted 20 May , 2019 Posted 20 May , 2019 First of all congratulations and thank you for your very hard work! I am one of the two other researchers that sent in an identification case for Captain William Miles Kington DSO (case ID 392). But, I only sent it to the CWGC in July 2018. Will you attend the rededication ceremony? It would be an honor to meet you there! How did you come across the grave, if I may ask? I came across it when I was researching two graves in the Harlebeke New British Cemetery (which I think are Captain Brennan and Lieutenant de Peyster Chance). I tried to broaden the perspective by trying to find other possibilities for unknown RWF officers of 1914 and came across Kington's grave in Tyne Cot. Again, well done and thanks for the hard work! Kind regards, Michiel
chaz Posted 20 May , 2019 Posted 20 May , 2019 Well done, wish we could have been there as well but returning on 14th.
thetrenchrat22 Posted 21 May , 2019 Author Posted 21 May , 2019 Michiel thank you, unfortunately I shall not be there in June. I was walking around Tyne Cot in May 2017, when I noticed the headstone was different to those around it, so I went a had a look. When I noticed it was for an Unknown Captain of the RWF, not far away were some others from RWF, when I had a look at the Concentration Of Burial Report for the known RWF, the Unknown Captain was on it and he had a DSO and South African Ribbons. A quick look on the CWGC website, pointed to Captain Kington. When I got home, I did some more research and the only officer clearly it could be was Captain William Miles Kington DSO. I submitted my case in September 2017. Alan
