Pauline Haycock Posted 9 May , 2019 Share Posted 9 May , 2019 James Langham Whitworth of 1/5 Leicestershires was wounded on 10 September 1915. I have looked in the War diaries and for 10 September it states 'Trenches' Am not sure but it may have been on the salient in the Ouderdom area. Can anyone help me please

daggers Posted 9 May , 2019 Share Posted 9 May , 2019 You might find a more exact location by turning back some pages of the war diary to the unit’s last move. D

It gives a much better insight to the whereabouts and movement/actions in 1915, of the 1/4th and 1/5th Leicesters. This combined with the Battalion war diaries and books by Capt John Milne 4th Battalion and Capt J D Hills 5th Battalion is proving very enlightening. Also mentioned are the 4th and 5th Lincolns. Regards, Bob.
