Remembered Today:

Imperial German Navy medal ribbon bar.

I'm hoping that a member can identify the three? medal ribbons being worn on a German naval officer's jacket. The first I assume is an Iron Cross.

Thanks,

ARABIS.

Can anyone link me to a web site for WW1 German naval ribbons?

Am I correct in assuming that personnel of the Imperial German Navy were not awarded medals by individual States?

Thanks,

ARABIS.

You are not correct.

BTW: just a detail of a scan showing a b/w ribbon bar isn't enough to try and identify it. You should show the complete picture and give all available information as there may be other details of importance.

Thanks for your answer Jan,

Here is the full photo but apart from the buttons there is nothing to else to help, which is why I did not bother attaching it. I was hoping the medal ribbons might help. Written on the back in pencil is Marine Offizier.

first ribbon: Iron Cross 2nd Class

second ribbon: bulgarian order for bravery (I am very uncertain about this one)

third ribbon: Hindenburg Cross
