mikereme Posted 7 May , 2019 Share Posted 7 May , 2019 Hello Everyone, During the Great War...where the British/Allies working off the same Times zone we use to this day i.e. Europen Time +1 hour in front of GMT when they were in Belgium/France... If they did work on GMT then and the german work on +1 hour this makes it very interesting for my research...e.g time of attack 0230hrs british time but 0330hrs german attack would this be correct during this period? I thank you in anticipation.
charlie2 Posted 7 May , 2019 Share Posted 7 May , 2019 The time used by the Germans and the Allies varied during the war, at some points both armies used the same time and at others there was a time difference. The dates and differences are usually stated at the being of the OH volumes. Charlie

David_Underdown Posted 8 May , 2019 Share Posted 8 May , 2019 Occupied areas of France were on German time, otherwise France was on GMT (or GMT+1 when summertime was in force). Similarly in the Second World War it was only after German occupation that they moved to GMT+1 as standard (GMT+2 for summertime), and for some reason never switched back after the war.
