Gardenerbill Posted 5 May , 2019 Share Posted 5 May , 2019 Picked up a damaged BWM today from the Chapel Emporium Llangollen for £15. The details on the rim have been damaged but are still readable The number appears to be 64211 with P for private The name looks like J.T. N????LSON And the Regiment K.?.Y.L.I. I have found a medal index card for 64211 Private Joseph T Nicholson KOYLI Would you agree that this is the soldier?

depaor01 Posted 5 May , 2019 Share Posted 5 May , 2019 A rare example of when a shoddy job (only half erasing a medal) is a good thing. Great detective work lads. Dave
mancpal Posted 6 May , 2019 Share Posted 6 May , 2019 if for any reason anyone is seeking a pair which have had the recipients details erased I know where such a set is for sale , coincidentally also in a shop in north Wales. Simon
chaz Posted 7 May , 2019 Share Posted 7 May , 2019 Very disappointed , bid on a trio died in hospital. Got them home and found star had been semi erased. Has spr. And R.E. With a feint l which does not tie in with his name. I've argued with auction. House but 'their militaria specialist' says it's just been polished well. Scratches and hollow don't lie. Came with a ribbon bar and new ribbons on medals and his cap badge.... i suspect a made up group. Still it was only £100 with commission and vat. they say a picture on listing. So, caveat emptor.
