Hi - can anyone please ID the capbadge? 

The soldier showed is West Yorkshire Regiment and at the time of the photo may have been a POW?

It’s a POW cap badge of a type organised for prisoners, many of whom were captured with just steel helmets.  The lack of badges was such a problem that eventually the War Office agreed a scheme by which families could send their loved one a regimental cap badge within an individually addressed Red Cross type parcel.  Unbelievably, however, the soldiers serial number had to be submitted so that a charge for the badge could be made against his pay account.  There were several patterns of the badge shown in your photo.  Some were made by the prisoners themselves in a specific German POW camp.
