Samuel Hamer Monmouth Reg. & Labour Company

As some of you may know, one of the men commemorated on the Rhayader Memorial, Samuel Hamer, my Great Grandmother's second husband, is not listed with the CWGC although he died 22nd October 1918 and is known to have been with the BEF during WW1.

I have started to work through the mics to see if I can find which regiment he was with and so far there are 10 possiblities, however, the only soldier with a Welsh connection is Pte Samuel Hamer 200808 Monmouthshire Regiment who then was with the Labour Company Reg.no. 441801. This Samuel Hamer was given a SWB list LC/23. It looks as if this man went to France post January 1916.

I would appreciate some advice on a couple of points

There is a date written under Date of Entry which says 5/2/23.

Would this have something to do with his SWB ?

Also, is there any further information that would determine this soldier's place of residence that would be available through the SWB list or any other source ?

I have checked for relevant service records at NA (with no result) but have yet to check Collindale.

Regards

Myrtle
