Dragoon Posted 26 April , 2019 Share Posted 26 April , 2019 (edited) Hello good people of the forum, I have this picture from the Doncaster museum site that shows the Yorkshire Dragoons Machine gun section. My question is, did all the machine gun sections of the Yeomanry, infantry etc become Machine Gun Corps on the creation of the Corps in October 1915, and were they all subsequently badged MGC? Thank you all again for your time Cheers Chris Edited 26 April , 2019 by Dragoon
Admin kenf48 Posted 26 April , 2019 Admin Share Posted 26 April , 2019 There is a list on the Long Long Trail http://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/army/regiments-and-corps/machine-gun-corps-in-the-first-world-war/machine-gun-corps-cavalry-squadrons/ The war diaries for the Yorkshire Dragoons show they were still giving/receiving instruction on the Hotchkiss MG in May 1916. In January 1917 all cavalry machine gunners in France were sent to Camiers to train on the Vickers, it then seems they were posted to the Machine Gun Squadron relevant to their existing Brigade. (Machine Gunner 1914-1918 Crutchley ed). Ken

I'm always telling people to look at the LLT site! And there was my answer! Doh! Cheers for your reply Ken, greatly appreciated. Chris
