Dolloway Brothers Posted 24 April , 2019 Share Posted 24 April , 2019 (edited) I attach a group photograph that includes my maternal grandfather, William Cox from Oxford, born 1896. He is standing first left, second row from the back. From personal information and initial research, what I understand about his service is: A pre-war territorial (bugler) with the Ox and Bucks LI 2/4th Battalion. On manoeuvres at Marlow when WW1 broke out. His medals (WW1 pair) are named to 2118 PTE W. COX OXF. & BUCKS. L I. This is confirmed by his PRO medal card. He was captured on the Western Front on 21 March 1918. Put to work repairing the German railway network. He survived the war. Per his Red Cross POW records he was imprisoned at Munster, Lager II Munster and Gustrow. Also, per his Red Cross records when captured at Heudicourt he was serving as a private (no. 43516) with the 2nd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, C Company. Any observations would be welcomed plus any hints for future research. Thank you.
