Remembering the gallant members of the 4th RM Battalion and other naval forces who took part in the St George's Day raid on Zeebrugge 101 years ago today

Sorry , wanted to post this yesterday, but no internet access.

I would like to include the names of the 4 Royal Marines killed on Easter Monday 1918

whilst training for the raid.

Bomber Fred Belfield

Gunner Samuel E Houchen

Gunner Albert T Aldridge

Gunner Arthur Large

They were operating a Stokes trench mortar on the ranges at Kingsdown, when a bomb

exploded prematurely inside the barrel,killing them instantly.

In their memory. 

Also noted campaign to raise funds for light from Vindictive.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of the German 12" brass cartridge case , given to

The Marines Depot at Deal, which was suspended from a beam made from the deck of

HMS Vindictive, and rung as a reminder of the gallantry of the men who took part in the
