sdparker Posted 24 April , 2019 Share Posted 24 April , 2019 Sorry , wanted to post this yesterday, but no internet access. I would like to include the names of the 4 Royal Marines killed on Easter Monday 1918 whilst training for the raid. Bomber Fred Belfield Gunner Samuel E Houchen Gunner Albert T Aldridge Gunner Arthur Large They were operating a Stokes trench mortar on the ranges at Kingsdown, when a bomb exploded prematurely inside the barrel, killing them instantly. In their memory. Also noted campaign to raise funds for light from Vindictive. Does anyone know the whereabouts of the German 12" brass cartridge case , given to The Marines Depot at Deal, which was suspended from a beam made from the deck of HMS Vindictive, and rung as a reminder of the gallantry of the men who took part in the raid.
