HERITAGE PLUS Posted 22 April , 2019 Share Posted 22 April , 2019 Formed at Wrexham in August 1914 as part of K1 and came under orders of 40th Brigade, 13th (Western) Division. Moved to Salisbury Plain but by February 1915 was at Blackdown. Moved to Mudros in July 1915 and subsequently served in Gallipoli, Egypt and Mesopotamia. Details from the LLT. Moonraker Posted 22 April , 2019 Share Posted 22 April , 2019 More detail from https://www.wartimememoriesproject.com/greatwar/allied/battalion.php?pid=7377 A couple of references elsewhere suggest that the 8th was raised/formed on Salisbury Plain (perhaps with recruits enlisting at Wrexham being quickly sent to the Plain). I don't have a precise location on the Plain, but the stay was short-lived, because by the end of September the 8th was at Chisledon, perhaps after a short time in billets. Though in Wiltshire, Chisledon is some 20 miles from the Plain itself. Moonraker
