sJ's link to LLT 13 Div suggests Div was broken up Feb/March 1919 in Mespot. Do you know that the 8th went to India ?

Their War Diary here shows they were still at Amara 28/2/19 but substantial demob in Feb meant less than 250 men on strength 28/2/19. Diary ends there.

As previously noted the 13th Division was broken up in Amara, and as an entity ceased to exist in March 1919.

Demobilisation was a prolonged process, the miners went first until eventually the Battalions were reduced to cadre.  As mentioned in your other post my interest is the 4th SWB who were in the same Brigade (40th) as the 8th RWF,  I can’t answer your query regarding the RWF though there are specialists on the forum.

That said, the 4th Bn SWB began demobilisation in theatre from November 1918.  The route home was via Karachi, when the cadre of the 4th Battalion landed at Karachi it was sent to Rawalpindi for ‘several weeks’ due to the unrest on the N W Frontier (Third Afghan War).  They finally left India on July 26th 1919 on the transport Malwa, together with the cadre of the 8 RWF and others.  Influenza broke out on the journey home and on arrival at Plymouth on the 16 August they were quarantined.  It appears that it was only the cadres of each Battalion that were deployed on active service in India.
