Helmet identification

Recommended Posts

I’ve found this helmet in the region of arras and would like if possible to identify which type it is.

Also is worth cleaning and would electrolysis be a good way to do it?

Appears to be the remains of a British Brodie helmet - the split-riveted chinstrap bales are fairly distinctive:

I'd agree it looks like a vertebrae.

Having looked at some images of vertebrae it's similar but I don't think it looks like one and anyway the OP said it was a lump of metal and that's good enough for me.

Some years ago I worked for short periods of time with a Frenchman, when he came to the UK he gave me what he said was a thumb bone from the Somme, after a short deliberation I gave it the most respectful burial that I could.
