Anthony Ewen Posted 11 April , 2019 Share Posted 11 April , 2019 Joseph served with distinction with 15th Battalion Hampshire Regiment in France and Flanders from May 1916 - twice awarded Military Medal - but his medal card states that he first served in the Balkan Theatre from 29 August 1915. 15th Battalion not formed then so can anyone help with how or who he served with first? Jan 1918 bronchitis, 1 year with Field Force and 3 5/12 total service. Age 21. Suggests he didn't go to France until Dec1916 -but plenty of scope for error!
