homerp Posted 2 June , 2003 Share Posted 2 June , 2003 In trying to gather information relating to my grandfather's whereabout during the war, I have come to a seemingly dead end. Any assistance at this point would be appreciated. My grandad's Active Service record tells me the MT company he served with. Usually Seige Park. The book by Micheal Young tells me the role and Corps . However the war diaries of the specific MT company talk in terms of Brigades, Batteries and Heavy Artillery Groups (HAG) or camps. How do I find out what Brigade, Battery or HAG the MT company was attached to ? When some brigades where transferred, did a MT company go with them?. How many Seige parks to a Corps? Does "Y" Seige corps indicate that there where 24 other seige parks somewhere? According to my grandads records he swapped MT companies and Corps about 8 times. Any ideas of how to simplify this. It seems I'm not the only one to struggle with this interchanging. CO "Y" Seige Parks writes - In order to cope with the frequent shuffling about of batteries and brigades and so as to know exactly where the lorries are, the following re-organisation will take place" I seem to have the macro and the micro names, but like the donut , there's a hole in the middle. Any sources that may help ??? Regards Snowy (melting)
