AndrewFrench Posted 2 April , 2019 Share Posted 2 April , 2019 The attached photograph is of my Great Uncle - Will Philips. This is what I know and it is very little. He was born in London and emigrated to Canada before the Great War with his brother Ern but both came back to the UK for the war This portrait was taken at the Ping Pong Studios 72 High St Islington and on the back is written the date January 1915 in pencil. I don't think it's a great portrait as they have cut off his cap badge - the studio props also look rather meagre. The collar badges appear to be the maple leaf thus Canadian Forces His rank badge as I assuming is sergeant-major / CQMS / Staff Sergeant. He has a red cross over the stripes but I am not sure if this makes him Canadian RAMC? Any thoughts please? Andrew
