I am looking for any information on a A. E. Clifford. Service number 291489. I have his medals which include the MM which was gazetted on the 28th September 1917. It would be fascinating to find out what act of bravery he did to be awarded the MM. Any information would be greatly received.

Welcome to the forum.  The usual reply about MM awards is to look for newspaper reports local to where your man lived.  It is unlikely that any official citation will have been published.  The unit’s war diary may have a brief mention.

128 Heavy Battery was part of 9 Brigade Royal Garrison Artillery from 24 May 1917 until 29 November 1917 which would likely cover the period when he was awarded the MM.  For Aug-Nov 1917 they maintained their own war diary :
