Dragoon Posted 30 March , 2019 Share Posted 30 March , 2019 I hope it's a genuine one, these are sadly faked a lot. Try, if no one can identify this as a genuine badge, try the military badge forum, they are excellent on there, they'll get an answer to you. https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/forums/ Hope this helps Chris
Dragoon Posted 30 March , 2019 Share Posted 30 March , 2019 (edited) I hope it is genuine, it's a lovely badge the Liverpool Pals. The make is Jennens and Company. And the S is for silver. Chris Edited 30 March , 2019 by Dragoon

Grovetown Posted 31 March , 2019 Share Posted 31 March , 2019 (edited) The badges commissioned by Lord Derby for issue to the original enlistees were made by Elkington & Co (marked E&C) and hallmarked 1914, either (mostly) Birmingham or Chester. Some may be hallmarked London, although I've not seen one, yet still 1914 and Elkington. Backs were solid. FWIW: that posted is not one of those obviously, and I think the quality of the back is too poor to even be a sweetheart or somesuch. Cheers, GT. Grovetown Posted 1 April , 2019 Share Posted 1 April , 2019 I see this badge has now also been widely dismissed on the BBF. Happily for them, they get a lot more latitude than we do on challenging repros etc.

Muerrisch Posted 7 April , 2019 Share Posted 7 April , 2019 I am also a B Badge member, appearing as Grumpy. I can understand fakes/repros of high value items, but am puzzled by the large number of non-genuine versions of £15 to £50 quid badges. The cost/benefit ratio must be poor. Easier to go out and graft for a few bob.
Sepoy Posted 7 April , 2019 Share Posted 7 April , 2019 (edited) Here is my example of a Elkington & Co manufactured badge showing a 1914 London hallmark. It also shows the correct positioning of the loops. Original examples can also be found where the loops were removed and pins fitted so they could be worn by wives or sweethearts.
