I recently discovered that my gr-grandfather was a recipient of the above medal after the war. He was a retired police inspector and the aliens officer for Blackpool. Can anyone tell me more about it, and how many were awarded? I have no idea if it is still in the family but am trying to find out.

Hello,

You can find some info here: http://www.medalcorner.fr/  (Scroll to Belgian WWI decorations and King Albert Medail)  I'm afraid I do not know how many medals were awarded.

Do you still have the document which accompanied the medal?

With kind regards,

Jef

Thanks Jef. No I’m afraid I don’t even know where the medal is. It was in an old newspaper report I found online.
