Hi all,

I know that the 68th changed to the DLI in the late 1880’s. This swagger stick is an unusual shape and has Durham Light Infantry with a kings crown. Does anyone have an idea of its date

many thanks in advance

Dave,

There's an old thread here with regards the use of regimental numbers post 1880's.

Gut feeling would be early 20th century but without a hallmark impossible to say for sure.

Dave.

The Tudor Crown came into effect with Edward VII and the use of regimental numbers was still quite common during his short reign.  The same Crown continued in use with Edward VIII and George’s V and VI, with numbering increasingly less used as the Territorial titles became more embedded in their local areas.
