KOYLI 1/4 and 1/5 War diaries

Have tried in vain to locate the war diaries for KOYLI 1/4 and 1/5 Battalions on Ancestry.

I have searched by National Archives Piece Numbers  and by Regiment plus Battalion to no avail.

Can anyone help, please?

Piece number search is not working. If you've tried to find them by browsing the drop down boxes ie Koyli-Division number - piece number/battalion then for unknown reasons they will be under 'Various Bridages' sic for the relevant Division.

Another option if you're feeling techy is to find page 1 of any diary. Copy the full URL address from address bar and paste into notebook. Find the piece number in the URL and change it to the desired piece number then copy & paste the edited address back in.

I agree with TEW. I now find them via the Browse box. In this case under Various (Infantry Brigades) 49 Div. Not 148 Brigade HQ but piece 2806 - 148 Infantry Brigade. For 1/5 Bn after February 1918 it is under Various (Infantry Brigades) 62 Div - 187 Infantry Brigade.

This is very frustrating. I found the diaries yesterday via the Browse selection as Tew suggested. Now today the option to select the 49th and 62nd Divisions has vanished.

On Ancestry, the direct links to the start of the diaries are:

1/4 KOYLI - here

1/5 KOYLI - April 1915 to January 1918 here, and February 1918 to February 1919 here.

It's possible that Ancestry is throwing you out. Mine does it to me constantly and it drives me mad. I use the back button to go back to where I was and try again.

Dear Chris and Brian,

Many thanks indeed for your very timely help.

Rang Ancestry and told them about the problems re the search difficulties on the war diaries. I wonder if they will do something.- We shall see.
