travd3 Posted 21 March , 2019 Share Posted 21 March , 2019 Finally researching some of my past finds. Need opinions as to this badge and if anyone has seen a photo of the badge on a uniform. I can only find a few examples and none are actually being worn. The prop/wing is marked sterling, both the prop/wing and wreath have been tested and both come out sterling. guntoast Posted 21 March , 2019 Share Posted 21 March , 2019 (edited) I have one that looks exactly the same except it is darkened and is a pin back instead of having the two wires on each side. Also the wing on mine looks more like the french version of the Air Service insignia. It belonged to my great grandfather who served with the U.S. Air Service in France and was with his wartime military items in a trunk, so I'm assuming it is authentic and legit. That being said I don't have any photos of him wearing it on his uniform or cap, so I don't know the occurrence of them actually having being worn on their caps. I wish I had more information or photos regarding this specific device, but that's all I can add. Hope it helps.
