kitinspection_760.jpg.e04801e08659425e378e6b7508a3171a.jpgAny comments on this line up? Why are the soldiers all old looking? Why outdoors? Why so many Senior NCOs with the officer for just one platoon? How did they manage to lay kit out so well in such restricted space? Where might this be - at home or abroad?kitinspection_760.jpg.e04801e08659425e378e6b7508a3171a.jpg

Sorry about the 2 photos!

Defaulters parade at a guess with the NCOs being there to point out "their" man/men. From a training camp at a guess with the officer being officer of the day.

Edit the kit layed out like that looks like an extended bed inspection set up, something not done in bell tents to that detail. IE barracks level faff in the field, poor bleeders.

aaaaaahhhhh... the goood old times... wouldn't it be grant to come up on the parade ground of the Chasseurs one day to see the young recruits standing in line with their kit laid out like that??? OK... keep on dreaming...

Good find though!! That's what military discipline should look like!!

Bed blocks need to be banned under cruel and unusual punishment.

Early war and this is the pick of the drinkers. Very old sweat(second man in) looks the business but looks a pro at this.

It's a fairly comprehensive kit layout but no webbing or packs. One Staff/Sgt not wearing puttees for some reason. Can you imagine being a guy in the middle trying to set his stuff out without treading on the kit of the next guy?

It has a show parade look but they`re not wearing belts (which I would have expected on such a parade), maybe too many Senior NCOs present and how long would it take to get the layouts so close together?

Well, one way would be to start at the right and move to the left (or vice versa), laying one set at a time … although this would take a very long time, of course.

Either way, I'm glad that I wasn't part of doing it!

In my experience, time is one thing you don`t get much of on a show parade!

I do have some experience of examining kit laid out for Tent inspections at Boys' Brigade Camps, which did involve similar work, but I agree … I've never been part of anything like that.

Part of default parade is the mess the men around attitude. No webbing I'm guessing as early war. No belts rings a bell for default parade?????? Marks you out as naughty boy.

Compared to the OP it is a rather scruffy layout. As it`s London Scottish, maybe we`ll get a specialist comment!
