Stoker 1st Class T. A. Barlow K.11741 - apparent release from detention on outbreak of war

The service record card for Stoker 1st Class Thomas Arthur Barlow K.11741 shows him being sentenced to two years detention by court martial on 9 March 1914 for "striking superior officers in execution of their duties" while serving on H.M.S. BLONDE.  He is then shown as having joined H.M.S. ABOUKIR on 2 August 1914 and dying when that vessel was torpedoed and sunk by U 9 on 22 September 1914.  There is nothing on the card to indicate that he was released from detention to serve, but I assume that he must have been.  Is anyone aware of an amnesty declared as part of the pre-war mobilisation which might explain his release?
