Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 17 March , 2019 Share Posted 17 March , 2019 Dear GWF aficionados, The attached group - thanks to David Rao - shows a 32nd Lancers Indian Army cavy officer having been married in the aftermath of the Great War. But who was he? Taken perhaps at Meerut, ca. 1922, the Best Man was possibly Risaldar Shaikh Hussain, 32nd Lancers, sitting next to the groom in the front row. Next along, was probably the (officiating) Commandant of 32nd Lancers, Major W. C. Reid, OBE. The young, un-decorated, officer sitting next to the bride, may well have been her brother. The two officers seated at far right, similarly had no medals. In contrast, the officer with the MC, seated at far left, was Capt F. P. G. Denehy, MC, who had served with Risaldar Shaikh Hussain in Kurdistan... Kindest regards, Kim.
alf mcm Posted 18 March , 2019 Share Posted 18 March , 2019 (edited) Kimberley, It's possibly the marriage of Captain Patrick Shiel to Miss Edith Thaddens on 19th July 1923, at St. Thomas Church, Middleton Row, Calcutta. The witnesses were T.M. Thaddens and R.F. Loudon {civilians}. Regards, Alf McM Edited 18 March , 2019 by alf mcm
Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 18 March , 2019 Author Share Posted 18 March , 2019 Dear Alf, Wow! Good work: I am impressed. Here is another (thanks David Rao!) 32nd Lancers group - with Capt F. P. G. Denehy, MC, again seated far left - which included some of the officers seen in the wedding photo. Furthermore, the medals of the gallant and capable Capt Denehy (MC for Kurdistan)... Kindest regards, Kim.
